The 5 wale refers to the number of cords or raised rows of velvet per inch, making this a heavy weight corduroy fabric.

Pre-wash this fabric before you sew so that it shrinks to fit and doesn't bleed in the wash.

Washing instructions

Gentle wash at 30°C with non-bio detergent on a low spin.
Do not overfill the drum as this can crush the pile.
Take out of washing machine immediately and dry flat.
Do not wash with other fabrics that produce lint. Once made up wash corduroy clothes inside out.
Do not dry or store in direct sunlight (color may bleach).
To iron, use a medium setting moving in the direction of the pile with a press cloth.

Please allow 2-10% shrinkage on fabrics to be on the safe side. Wash before making up in the same manner as you would with subsequent washes (including drying methods)
