Recommended Fabric

Light to midweight woven fabrics with a moderate drape, such as chambray, lightweight canvas, sateen, twill, wool suiting, crepe, and brocade.

For the pocket bag and hem facing, use either the main fabric or a lightweight lining fabric for a smooth finish.

Fabric Requirements

Fabric A: 44″ (112 cm) wide fabric: 1 1/4 - 2 yd (1.2 - 1.8 m) // 58″ (147 cm) wide fabric: 1 - 1 1/4 yd (0.9 - 1.2 m).

Fabric B (pocket lining and hem facing): 3/4 yd (0.7 m).

Essential supplies:

• Coordinating thread
• Four ½" or ⅝" buttons (or three buttons and one large hook and eye)
• Lightweight woven fusible or sew-in interfacing

Optional alternative for the hem facing:

• Use 1" single-fold bias binding or ½" double-fold bias binding instead of making the hem facing
• If using packaged bias binding, only a small piece of lining (approx. 12" long x 20" wide) is needed for the pocket facing instead of the full suggested fabric amount for the facings
