True Bias - Lora Dress Sewing Pattern (US 14-32)

Difficulty: Intermediate

Sizes: US 14 – 32 (approx. UK 16 – 34 based on our size chart)

Please always check the pattern size chart and finished garment measurements.

Description

The Lora pattern is an empire-waist dress available in four variations. Each option features under bust gathers, a self-lined bodice, and a row of twelve loop buttons along the centre front. Views A and C include slender spaghetti straps, while Views B and D offer long puff sleeves. The dress is fitted at the waist and hips, with a straight skirt. Views A and B finish just above the knee, whereas Views C and D extend to a couple of inches above the ankle.

Recommended Fabric

Light to medium weight woven fabrics, such as linen, cotton, or rayon.

Fabric Requirements

View A: 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 2.5 - 3 yd (2.3 - 2.7 m) // 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 2.3 - 2.7 yd (2.1 - 2.5 m).

View B: 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 4.5 - 5 yd (4.1 - 4.6 m) // 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 4 - 4.7 yd (3.7 - 4.3 m).

View C: 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 3.1 - 3.8 yd (2.8 - 3.5 m) // 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 3 - 3.4 yd (2.7 - 3.1 m).

View D: 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 5.3 - 5.7 yd (4.8 - 5.2 m) // 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 4.8 - 5.3 yd (4.4 - 4.8 m).

Please note that the size ranges are based on different pattern blocks. The 14–32 range is designed with slightly curvier proportions compared to the 0–18 range. It features a D cup rather than a C cup, meaning there is a 4" difference between the full and high bust instead of 3". Additionally, the waist-to-hip difference is 1" greater in the 14–32 range. Both size ranges are drafted for an average height of 5'5".

Notions

  • Twelve 3/8" (10 mm) shank buttons.
  • Lightweight fusible interfacing (Views A and B, 1 1/2 yd / Views C and D, 2 yd).
  • Hand sewing needle.
  • Views B and D only: 3/8" (10 mm) elastic, 1 2 yd for sizes 14-32.
